I wanted to tell you all of what happened to me last night. I didn't want to bring it to your attention until I'd had time to think it over myself. But I feel like you each deserve to know, as it directly effects each and every one of you.
I was awoken from my sleep at exactly 3:33am to a very strange noise. At first I thought it might have come from outside, or that I had imagined it. However, on hearing the sound again I realized it was coming from Ronan's baby monitor on my bedside table. Of course I immediately got out of bed and made my way to the stairs. On climbing the stairs I noticed how cold it was on the second floor. It felt like -25. I could see my own breath, and immediately began to shiver. I also saw what appeared to be smoke coming from beneath the door to Ronan's room. As I reached out to grab the door knob I saw that it was glowing red hot. I took a step back and used the bottom of my foot to kick the door in.
What I saw when I entered the room is hard to explain. It was so unreal that I thought for sure I was still asleep, in some horrible nightmare. I was immediately hit by a blast of hot air and smoke. As I looked into the room I saw that the walls were on fire, and looked like they were melting like candle wax. I then saw Ronan laying on the floor in the middle of the room surrounded by a circle of fire. I jumped through the flames to get to him and picked him up into my arms. As I did this the fire on the walls and the flames surrounding us immediately disappeared, as if nothing had ever happened.
Ronan, who was asleep, suddenly woke up and started crying.
I took him into the other room upstairs and held him until he calmed down. I checked him over to make sure he was ok. He was fine, apart from his upper back. He had markings that looked as though they had been scratched or cut into his skin - but there's no way he could have done it to himself.
I could see that the markings weren't random, and appeared to be letters and symbols, so I wrote them down quickly as they were fading/healing right before my eyes. Here's what I wrote down:
X.VIII.XI
III.III.III ante meridiem.
Erit concilio revelavit hominibus.
I recognized the first part as roman numerals, which are 10.8.11 3.3.3, and I know ante meridiem stands for AM. The first part appears to be a date and time.
The third line I had to look up in a translator. It's latin, but it was difficult to find an accurate translation. But here's how this whole thing effects us all. The best english translation of 'Erit concilio revelavit hominibus.' I could find comes out as 'It shall be revealed to the council of men.'.
I'm defintely still in shock from what happened. I have no idea what to tell you, or how to protect yourself from what the message implies.
Please let me know what happens tonight - and above all please stay safe.

how clever my Lord and chillingly exciting. Tis the season. well done.
Well done my Lord! How chillingly exciting and apropos ...tis the season!!
Chilling indeed - did everyone else receive the message at 3:33am last night?
I received the message! Thoroughly enjoyed the delivery. Gonna head to the Midtown Scholar today and see i they have it there.
Well done, sir, message received! Really looking forward to this one.
Indeed the message was received ...and the significance of 3:33 was immediately realized. Well done
Like HGTV, our "reveals" are always something special. I'm excited to embark into a new genre. Kathleen's not much of a horror movie person, so I've fallen off in that regard. But I've not done much reading in this category, so I'm eager to get my hands on this one...
Gentlemen,
I trust by now we all have the latest parchment in hand. And as such I would like to begin proposing a date for the next council meeting. I have browsed the calendar that is google, and found that the weekend of November 18th and 19th seems to be the next available.
It is unfortunate that we shall miss out on a Halloween meeting - however the blame for that falls on me for not getting my choice to you all sooner. Such is life.
Please respond and let me know if Friday Nov 18th and Saturday Nov 19th are in fact open for you to meet with the council. I would like to get our meeting date penciled in on the calendar asap. Believe it or not the following weekend is Thanksgiving! Where does the time go?
Go forth!
Yours in fear,
LLdP
I'm afraid I will not be able to attend 11/18-11/19. I am actually buying tickets to Alabama to visit Count Pluma as we speak and will be leaving here Friday night 11/18. Sorry for the throwing a wrench in the plans Brother Lloyd.
So you're saying you didn't buy tickets yet. Great! So we can have the meeting as planned. See you guys on the 18th
Maybe we could have it read and the meeting by All Souls Day, November 2nd? That happens to be in two weeks and on a Wednesday. Just a thought that i thunk.
All Saints Day would certainly be a good fall back plan. It's obviously not as much fun being that's a weeknight. Plus 'DannyLove' would find it hard to attend. It does appear that Master Lieb has an 8pm appointment at ABC that night. Lieb is that correct?
Would the weekend after Thanksgiving be an option? Dec 2-3?
Either date works for me. That concert on my calendar is just to remind me its that night. I haven't committed to going. The MOP is more important. Dec 2-3 also works. I do like having the weekend option personally.
Why don't we tentatively schedule the night of Friday December 2nd as the next council meeting. DannyLove - do you think you'll be in town that night? I know it's hard to predict. But any idea would be useful.
Gents, I may be in Holland/Denmark for a two week period encompassing that weekend. Or it might just be a 1 week thing the following week. I won't know for sure till the time draws closer so if no other dates work on all the google calendars lets schedule this on Dec 2 and I will cross my fingers
November 4 - 5 - I see Passilla Wedding. Are you and Lieb both attending this, or is it just a reminder?
Actually we are not attending, so that weekend is available for both of us
I have a conference in Memphis from November 2-6, so I will be out of pocket for those dates. Sorry fellas. I was waiting to weigh in because I know I'm not quite as vital to the council for this meeting as others. Anyway, I won't be available if we choose that weekend.
Ok, so it looks like Nov 4 and 5 are open! These dates would work perfect for the Halloween theme.
That would give as all 2 weeks to read the book.
Please let me know your thoughts on either of these dates, Friday or Saturday night. I tend to lean toward Fri night...but I'm easy.
Hello gentlemen,
I am 90% sure that the weekend of the 4th and 5th works. I will confer with the keeper of the calendar this evening. We could do it either night but, if its Friday, I would not be able to be there until quite late, so it depends on the timing. Did we rule out nov 26th, which is the saturday right after thanksgiving?? Looking forward to it!
Duke Pelota de Carne
De Carne - this pleases me. However, there will be discussing anything with a wench. You inform her of your important engagement - and she will submit to your man power. End of story!
The unavailability of Von Pluma saddens my soul. Your music conference in Memphis sounds like fun. Will you be visiting Graceland? But we must go forth - even if it means a missing codpiece. Although, to be fair I think I saw enough of Von Pluma's codpiece on that fateful boat ride back in August! Burned. Into. My. Memory. 4ever.
Readie - Lieb - Pompous: Doeth this weekend work for you?
I will be ready to meet on either day, that is unless I get called to give blood.
November 4-5 works for me, although Lieb and myself would prefer Saturday because we have a 5K early Saturday morning. However, being the MOP specimens that we are, the other participants could certainly benefit from our booze curbed muscles and smoke bound lungs.
So apparantly I was mistaken and we had a prior engagement for Saturday the 5th. It is not set in stone and could be rearranged but I just wanted to make sure that there is no other date possible. Was the Saturday right after Thanksgving ruled out? We will have just revived from our food comas and smokey and drinky treats are the perfect remedies for such ailments. That day would be better but I understand if its not possible and then I could make the 5th work.
Gentlemen,
What would you say to a trip to the 'Field of Screams' in Mountville, Pa on the night of Friday Nov 4th, or Saturday Nov 5th?
So here's the scoop. The 'FOS' is about 45 mins drive from H-burg. Attractions are open from 6pm until the last person is through - which I presume is about Midnight - as the ticket booth doesn't close until 10pm.
The nice thing is that both nights (Nov 4 and 5) are 'off-season', so the crowds and waiting would be at a minimum. Plus I could get our tickets online so we wouldn't even have to line up at the ticket booth we the coxcombs.
Speaking of tickets. The 'Field of Screams' has 3 main attractions. They are $13 each, and take about 20-25 minutes to go through. Alternatively it's $27 to visit all 3 attractions.
Personally I think $27 is a little pricey...just for someone to scare the living shit outta me! $13 is more budget friendly, and would allow us to drive there, get scared shitless, and drive back all in about 2.5 to 3hours.
So if we left H-burg at about 7pm, we could be back home to do the meeting at 10pm-ish. Giving us ample time for the council meeting.
The location of the meeting is still TBD.
I would lean toward doing it on Friday night - but I realize it might be hard for De Carne to get to H-burg before 7pm on Friday night. Plus MacReadster and M.Lieb have a run on Saturday morning to benefit 'The Little Girls that Run Club'.
Please weigh in with your thoughts/suggestions/needs/wants and or desires.
Seek first the wisdom of the parchment, and you shall enjoy everlasting knowledge.
I think it's a perfect ordourve before the book entree. But, i don't think we'll be back in town before 11. Could we leave an hour earlier, or do the trifecta in the woods saturday, which affords us more time to play?
Ok, I want to throw one more option in the mix for next weekend. An alternative to driving to Moutville - but equally as scary as the 'Field of Screams'.
Over the weekend, Paranormal Activity 3 took in $52 million at the U.S. box office, the best September/October opening in history and the highest ever for a horror movie.
I have not seen any of the Paranormal Activity movies...but I am very curious. I have read that it's one of those movies you have to watch at the cinema to get the full effect - something about the communal fear factor.
If we went to the 7:50pm showing at the Camp Hill Cinema, we could be out of the movie by 9:30pm. Giving us plenty of time for drinks, cigars, and book reviews.
If I don't hear any response back from the council members in the next day or so - I am going to move forward with this plan for FRIDAY NOV 4th OR SATURDAY NOV 5th.
I believe Lieb, McPageTurner, and Pompous are good with either of these nights. De Carne - will you beable to attend either of these dates? Is Saturday better than Friday? I will do my best to accomodate you coming. But please let me know asap.
LLP
Hey guys,
I am in for Saturday the 5th. I don't think I would be able to be home in time on Friday night, so, if we could, let's make it Saturday night. Sounds like good times, either activity is quite appropriate and I am pumped either way, but my vote would be for the Field of Screams. See ya guys next week, now I am off to finish reading the parchment,
de Carne
I like the paranormal movie plan and Saturday works for me. The paranormal gig reminds me of my wedding anniversary last year, haha, don't get any ideas now!! Recall we stayed at a hotel in gettysburg where the hbg paranormal society was having their annual social meeting. I took notes and will be well prepared for this meeting. A nose ring may be in order. No hand holding at the meeting though, right?
First off - I love that you published your comment not once...but twice! Your enthusiasm is infectious!
That's one vote for Saturday night and Paranormal Activity 3.
Hand holding and nose rings are actually encouraged! Bed wetting is not.
De Carne - I completely missed your comment. We need you there - so Saturday Nov 5th it is.
So that being said - we have 1 vote for FOS and one vote for PA3.
What say you Lieb, Readie, and Von Pluma?
Hmmm, I could go either way. The movie is cheaper and easier to pull off and will leave us more time for MOP type activities. However, Field of Screams is more unique and memorable. I'd lean more towards Screams but certainly wouldn't be disappointed with wither option.
Gentlemen, my vote would be for the Field of Screams. Granted, I doubt it carries much weight, but I do think it would be quite fitting. I agree with the other points though that the movie would afford more cigar-smoking and discussion.
I mentioned this to Brother Lloyd, but I think it would be fun to rent the movie version of Rosemary's Baby--perhaps over Christmas--and watch it either as a mini-council or just with whomever wanted to see it. Depending on circumstances we could make it an event or just watch it and let coxcombs enjoy it as well. It apparently was a really great remake of the book even using dialog from Ira himself.
Sounds like a "hell" of an event coming up next weekend. I wish I could be there, fellas.
The day and hour draws near my friends. 'Saturday night fright night' calls us, like an eerie voice in the dark. I myself have about 100 pages to finish of Ira's horror novel - I feel the suspense building. Poor Rosemary!
I am still undecided about whether to go for FOS or PA3. Both have their pros and cons. But I shall have an answer soon. And that goes for where to hold the council meeting itself!
Gosh you think I had never planned a council meeting before!
I do however have the cigars, and a fine cocktail in mind! One that Roman himself would be proud of ;-). And the thing that grows is very fitting.
Excitedly,
LLP
Gents, as a man, like all MOP, who does not scare easily I can vouch for the PA series as a worthy endeavor. Christy and I saw the first one together and needless to say, Christy, being of the more feeble sex, will not dare see another one. I would welcome both activities but would lean towards PA3 if asked the question directly, which I as we all have been.
Gentlemen,
The details have been ironed out. And here they are:
We shall all meet at 7:15pm tomorrow evening (Sat Nov 5) at the Camp Hill Cinema Center. The movie begins at 7:45pm, so this will give us time to buy tickets ($9.25), empty our stomach and bowels, and find prime seating locations.
After the 'you know what' has been scared clean out of us - we shall then retreat to Readie's fine abode (aka the Eagle's Nest). Here we will enjoy appropriately themed cocktails, fine rolled tobacco products, and of course council meeting - all under the foreboding night sky.
I look forward to seeing you all then.
Until the moro.
LLdP
