That for Which You Thirst

That not so subtle nudge from Master Lieb leaves me in total agreement and compounds the regret already weighing on the id to my super ego.  The MOP are not ones for excuses, nor am I one to further compromise an already inglorious standing amongst my brethren by grovelling for acceptance.  Nor do I feel it appropriate, after the subtle build up and implied promise of an unrivalled book reveal followed by the subsequent inactivity and eventual deflation of all expectations, that I delay the announcement for any such elaborate unveiling and further stress the good graces which have already tested beyond my intent.

Therefore I present to you that prize which has been promised without the expected and likely yearned for journey.  Our next parchment will be revealed by these clues three:

  • A different book, but one with with the same name minus the definite article in front, was turned into a movie in 2012
  • The setting is Alaska, and perhaps the words “danger danger UXB” may be uttered by the protagonist.
  • An 8th grade earth science teacher and a librarian might call this book “The Cirrus Almanac”

Once you, no doubt quickly with your superior intellect, arrive at the Amazon.com page of that for which you have so long yearned, send a message via baloon or your US carrier network of choice to confirm your suspicions.

As for the meeting, might I suggest Black Friday as a potential date.  Although I understand that gives us less time to read the book than it took to reveal it, it is hard to forego the opportunity to meet in person with our Western brethren while we all share in some other unrelated activities with coxcombs, among others.  Regardless of the suitability of such a date, I urge you to acquire the parchment post haste so we as an organization can begin to make up the ground that this humble man has let slide for far too long.

Yours in enlightenment,
Margraff Readie McPageturner

Brothers, Let the record show that the book is "The Cloud Atlas" by Liam Callanan. I have confirmation from all members that the book has been identified and purchase and/or refund+purchase has been initiated.

The book meeting will be on Black Friday or sometime that weekend depending on scheduling as we all must appreciate the need to appease the coxcombs and their families as part of our long list of duties. Still we must also take advantage of having all members of our small fold in near proximity.

Suffice to say that parchments should be on order and audio books should be filling commutes. In due time brothers

Brothers, while I love the fervor which has taken over the 'hood by storm, I do not think I will have the book read by Friday. I am in role play week, helping Kathleen run experiments this weekend, then packed next Mon/Tues before we drive to PA. My book arrives this afternoon, but I just don't think I will be able to make a dent worthy of discussion. I don't know if the age old "Christmas-Extension" is in order, but I wanted to send this quick note. In other news, I loved the reveal and I am excited to start this read.

Gents, let's plan to have a MOP meeting regardless of everyone's progress on the book. Heck, that never stopped Warren before! There will be good discussion either way no doubt and it will be good to get the council together

I'm going to do my best to have the book finished by Friday - but my current status of 16% complete doesn't exactly inspire confident!
I'm assuming we're all off work on Friday? Master Lieb I'm looking at you? I guess we can figure out a time/place when we meet to give thanks on Thurs. Perhaps a night time, outside, spirit sipping, cigar smoking situation?
I'm happy to offer up my covered patio area for the get together.

I do unfortunately work Friday until 4:30 so would have to be an evening discussion I'm afraid. I surely will not have the book read by then but am still enthusiastically awaiting an enthralling discussion with my codpiece in hand!
