Blog Updates

Members of the parchment, I wanted to bring you all up to speed with some recent changes to the MOP Blog. Firstly, I added a new page entitled 'Library'. This page is basically a chronological list of all the parchments we have read to date. It's an impressive list of literature - 15 books in all. We can of course add to this list as we digest more written words.

Secondly, I have added to the 'Council Meetings' page. I have listed out all of our meetings (from first to most recent), with some key stats for each e.g. book title, location of meeting, the selector etc etc. I spent some time filling out some of the details for each, but it should be the responsibility of the selector to complete the stats for their own meeting(s) (or at least to the best of their abilities/memory). Of course, feel free to fill out details for a meeting that wasn't your own. My hope is that we can 'document' all our council meetings before memory loss sets in!

Finally, I had to change us all from being 'Authors' of the blog to 'Admins'. This will allow each one of us to edit these pages - not just make posts, as was the case before. To update a page simply go to the page and click on the small pencil icon at the bottom. This will open up a content editor that will allow you to add, edit and delete information. Just remember to click 'Save'!

We can all be very proud of how we've contributed to the blog, through posts, book reveals, and even comments. I think we have a good thing going - and it should prove to be a tangible part of the MOP archives. The blog can be more than just posts about the current parchment. For instance if you come upon an interesting article, photograph, weapon, large breasted wench, or potential mascot while surfing the inter-webs that you think would be of interest to the group - please share in a post. I know members have been doing this, but I think we could really push for more of this sort of thing.

Go forth,
Lord Lloyd de Papel

Brother Lloyd, I like the sound of this. Thanks for creating the new pages on the blog. That is a great start to truly archiving our progress. I know that must have taken a bit of time, so many thanks.

I also like the urge to post more. I liken posting on a blog to texts versus short phone calls versus long phone calls. You know when you haven't talked to someone in a long time. You begin to--not quite dread--but not look forward to that call because you know it is going to have to be a 2-hour catch up. Hence, it snowballs and you continue to put it off. Sometimes, with a blog of this caliber with this astounding a membership, maybe we feel that a short quote, funny picture, random thought or link to an article is not substantive enough for the likes of these minds which are seemingly chiseled from the finest steel. This could lead to not posting until we believe we have an epic thought or life-changing event (or parchment update). I like the idea of throwing more things on the blog when the urge strikes.

So with that, isn't it fascinating that each of us has more technology in our pocket (i.e., our smart phone) than was used to put a man on the moon?

And on that note Von Pluma - we all have the ability to post text and images (max. 10Mb) directly to the blog using a special secret email address (different for each member) that can set up by signing into the blog and going to Settings > Mobile and email. So technically we could make a post whenever the mood strikes us...on the toilet for example, or even in the shower. Or when our wenches are talking to us about something important to them, but really boring to us. It's a Brave New World!

Quick question. Had I been the 'creator' of the Vespa thread, I could have embedded that link so other MOPers could simply click on it. You can also add photos and stuff like that. But when you simply sign in as a member to leave a comment, those options aren't there. Is that something we will live with or is there a way to leave pictures/videos/do mores stuff when simply commenting?

First of all who in the name of Zeus is Colin Gabler!? (Old MOP joke - never gets old!)
Von Pluma -- unfortunately there is currently no way to add photos or embed videos into a comment. Plain text is all we have to convey the brilliance of our minds. Unfortunately this has nothing to do with permissions or user roles of the blog itself, rather a shortcoming of Blogger (owned by google!). Although to be fair it's probably down to security. We wouldn't want any old coxcomb spamming our precious blog with links, inappropriate photos and XXX rated video embeds. We get enough of that stuff from Pompous already!
